NEAR Protocol Recovers Stolen Funds with AI Security Technology

NEAR Protocol has successfully recovered stolen funds from its NEAR Intents platform, primarily due to the implementation of the AI security layer known as SHIELD. The recovery was announced by NEAR co-founder Ilia Polosukhin on the social media platform X, where he detailed the swift actions taken by the Intents team following the hack.

Within 24 hours of the incident, the Intents team identified the responsible party and established communication, leading to the full recovery of the stolen funds by 14:30 UTC. This incident highlights the importance of proactive security measures in the rapidly evolving landscape of cybersecurity.

Polosukhin emphasized that NEAR will continue to enhance its security systems to adapt to emerging threats. He noted that while artificial intelligence can be used to exploit vulnerabilities, it also serves as a powerful tool for defense. The co-founder expressed hope that the broader industry will adopt a vigilant approach and collaborate to address cybersecurity challenges.
