US Spot Bitcoin ETFs Attract $313 Million in September Inflows Amid Market Volatility

Between September 1 and September 18, 2026, US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) experienced a net inflow of $313.6 million, despite a month marked by significant market fluctuations. During this period, trading sessions alternated between inflows and outflows, with only six sessions recording positive results and seven showing losses. This net positive inflow is noteworthy for a market segment that currently manages approximately $102.5 billion in total assets.

A significant portion of the inflows can be attributed to major players in the market, particularly Fidelity and BlackRock. On September 3, spot Bitcoin ETFs saw a remarkable single-day influx of $730.9 million, while September 18 brought in an additional $433 million. Fidelity's FBTC led the charge with $310.7 million, followed by BlackRock's IBIT with $108.4 million. This trend highlights the growing concentration of capital within these two firms, as they continue to dominate the market.

In contrast, Grayscale's GBTC has faced ongoing net redemptions, reflecting a shift in investor preference towards lower-fee alternatives since the introduction of spot ETFs. Cumulatively, US spot Bitcoin ETFs have attracted approximately $55.16 billion in net inflows since their inception, with total net assets nearing $102.5 billion. This indicates that roughly half of the current value in these funds is derived from Bitcoin price appreciation rather than new investments, underscoring the dual dynamics of market sentiment and tactical trading among institutional and retail investors.
