US Spot Bitcoin ETFs Experience Significant Inflows as Bitcoin Surpasses $81,000

On September 18, 2026, US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) saw a remarkable turnaround, attracting $433 million in a single day after experiencing significant outflows earlier in the week. This surge reversed a trend that had seen investors withdraw $450.4 million on September 15 and an additional $296 million the following day. The net inflow for the week ultimately reached approximately $6.2 million, indicating a shift in investor sentiment as Bitcoin's price stabilized above $81,000.

Fidelity's FBTC led the inflows, absorbing around $310.7 million, while BlackRock's IBIT attracted about $108.4 million. Together, these two funds accounted for the majority of the day's capital influx. The price of Bitcoin responded positively, holding steady above $81,000 and even reaching intraday highs near or above $82,000 between September 19 and 21. This rally was further fueled by short-covering activity, where traders who had bet against Bitcoin were compelled to buy back their positions.

Since their introduction in January 2024, US spot Bitcoin ETFs have accumulated approximately $55.1 billion in cumulative net inflows, with total net assets in the category now estimated between $102.5 billion and $103 billion as of mid-to-late September 2026. Despite the recent volatility, the overall performance of these funds has shown resilience, with a peak of $1.92 billion in weekly inflows recorded in late August, marking a significant rebound for Bitcoin after a prolonged period below the $80,000 mark.
