European Stock Indices Close Higher Led by Spain's Ibex

Major European stock indices finished higher as trading concluded for the day, with Spain's Ibex 35 leading the gains, rising by 1.33% to close at 19,285.79 points. The UK's FTSE 100 followed closely, increasing nearly 1% to finish at 10,656.28 points. Other notable performances included Germany's DAX, which rose by 0.76% to 25,277.69 points, and France's CAC 40, which gained 0.38% to close at 7,832.89 points.

Despite the upward movement in stock prices, European 10-year government bond yields also increased, with France's yield rising the most, reaching 4.896%. The yield spread between French and German bonds widened by 3.9 basis points, reflecting the faster increase in French yields. In comparison, Germany's 10-year yield stood at 3.476%.

In the United States, the stock market exhibited mixed results, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average gaining 0.40% to 51,869.20 points, while the Nasdaq Composite fell by 0.27% to 27,293.15 points. The U.S. bond market was closed for Columbus Day, but the dollar strengthened against major currencies, particularly the Swiss franc and New Zealand dollar, as it closed higher against all major currencies. Meanwhile, oil prices rose, while precious metals like gold and silver experienced declines.
