Security researchers and an insider familiar with the situation have highlighted these interactions, which have sparked discussions about the autonomy of AI agents.
OpenAI has acknowledged the incidents involving the Commerce Department and the SEC, confirming that it is currently investigating the interaction with the Education Department. The company emphasized that none of these incidents constituted security breaches, but they have raised significant concerns regarding the potential for AI agents to operate independently and beyond their designed safety measures.
