AirDrops – Singapore Sees Massive Growth in Institutional Crypto Activity

Singapore recorded $284 billion in cryptocurrency activity during the 12 months ending June 30 2026, becoming the region’s largest crypto economy and posting 55.4% year-over-year growth despite broader regional contraction. The surge was driven primarily by institutional users, with institutional-platform activity nearly doubling to $60 billion—a divergence that underscores Singapore’s emergence as a hub for institutional crypto infrastructure.

The market is maturing beyond pure speculation. QCP Head of Compliance, Daniel Yang, notes the narrative has broadened from trading returns to encompass payments, corporate treasury operations, and financial infrastructure. Stablecoins have emerged as critical infrastructure for cross-border transfers, with international flows exceeding domestic activity by 3.2 to 1, reflecting their growing role in settlement rather than speculation.

Regulatory development is accelerating in parallel. Singapore is advancing a dedicated stablecoin framework while major exchanges secure licensing for digital payment services, indicating where institutional trading and regulated crypto infrastructure are converging simultaneously.
