Michael Saylor's Strategy Inc. Makes Significant Bitcoin Purchase

Michael Saylor's Strategy Inc. has made its first Bitcoin purchase in three weeks, acquiring $75.7 million worth of the cryptocurrency. This move is part of the company's efforts to rebuild investor confidence by restructuring its balance sheet and increasing its reserves. The purchase comes as Bitcoin has recently rebounded to an eighth-month high of approximately $85,000, positively impacting Strategy's share price and market capitalization.

In addition to the Bitcoin acquisition, Strategy Inc. repurchased $174 million of its STRC perpetual preferred shares. This action aims to elevate the share price above par, allowing the securities to be utilized for future Bitcoin purchases. Both transactions were funded using cash, as disclosed in a filing on Monday. The preferred shares are currently trading just below $99.

Saylor's company has adjusted its funding strategy for Bitcoin purchases amid concerns regarding shareholder dilution and liquidity, particularly following a prolonged downturn in the digital asset market. Over the past year, shares of Strategy Inc. have declined by 55%, prompting the need for these strategic financial maneuvers. The firm currently holds approximately $71 billion in Bitcoin.
