NEAR ecosystem wallet MyNearWallet to shut down on Oct 31, users need to migrate
PANews reported on October 6 that NEAR Protocol announced on X that MyNearWallet, a non-custodial wallet in the NEAR ecosystem, will cease services on October 31. NEAR said users' assets are stored on-chain and only require a new access method, and they can transfer assets to near.com to swap, pay, earn yield and more across 30+ chains, with privacy by default.
NEAR provided a step-by-step guide to help users migrate to a near.com account controlled by passkeys. Before migrating, NEAR recommends testing the process with a small amount first; each time using the Deposit feature of a connected wallet, the deposit address is a one-time address and should not be reused; transfer one asset at a time and wait for completion; and keep MyNearWallet recovery information until each balance appears in the new account. NEAR stressed that users should never share their seed phrase, recovery phrase or private key, and that the NEAR Foundation, MyNearWallet and support staff will never ask for this information.
