Singapore Stablecoin Payments Firm dtcpay Extends Series A to $25 Million as SBI Group Joins as Strategic Investor

Singapore Stablecoin Payments Firm dtcpay Extends Series A to $25 Million as SBI Group Joins as Strategic Investor

Singapore-based stablecoin payments firm dtcpay has extended its Series A to $25 million after SBI Group joined as a strategic investor, according to dtcpay's announcement. The Japanese financial group invested through two vehicles, SBI Ventures Asset and the SBI-NTU-Kyobo Digital Innovation Fund, alongside new backer Genedant Capital and existing investor Kwee Liong Tek. Individual investment amounts were not disclosed.

The fresh capital builds on a $10 million initial tranche that Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India led in March, bringing the total Series A to $25 million. Dtcpay operates as dtcpay's parent entity Digital Treasures Center under a Major Payment Institution license from Singapore's Monetary Authority, covering account issuance, domestic and cross-border transfers, merchant acquisition, e-money issuance and digital payment token services, and separately holds an Electronic Money Institution license in Luxembourg along with registrations in Hong Kong, Australia, the US and Canada.

The platform lets businesses and individuals accept, store and transact in stablecoins, running a swap engine that connects stablecoin and fiat settlement alongside direct merchant acceptance and a point-of-sale product for in-store stablecoin payments. It has also partnered with Visa on a stablecoin-to-fiat card accepted at more than 150 million locations globally.

Dtcpay founder and chief executive Alice Liu said the company raised the round "to fundamentally change how money moves across borders," positioning stablecoin rails as a faster, cheaper alternative to traditional cross-border transfer networks like SWIFT.

Chairman Band Zhao said the company's next stage is "about scale," pointing to infrastructure, institutional partnerships and expansion into regulated markets. SBI Ven Capital chief executive Eiichiro So framed the investment as the start of a broader partnership, saying it would help "develop digital-asset links between Japan and Southeast Asia" through regulated financial infrastructure, though no timeline has been set for dtcpay entering the Japanese market.

The capital will go toward scaling dtcpay's merchant network and product suite, including a revamped business portal for enterprise clients and new consumer features in its app. Founded in 2019, dtcpay previously raised $16.5 million in a pre-Series A round in June 2023, and the SBI-backed extension adds it to a growing list of Southeast Asian stablecoin infrastructure firms drawing strategic capital from established Asian financial institutions rather than crypto-native funds alone.
