SwissBorg Integrates Worldcoin's WLD Token for Multi-Asset Swaps
SwissBorg, a European digital assets platform regulated under the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework, has announced the addition of Worldcoin's WLD token to its platform. Users can now deposit, withdraw, and swap WLD alongside over 400 other tokens, including major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. This integration allows for one-tap swaps and multi-chain functionality, enabling users to move assets across different blockchains seamlessly.
Worldcoin, which rebranded to World in 2024, focuses on a biometric proof-of-humanity system known as World ID. This system verifies that an account belongs to a unique, living individual through a one-time iris scan conducted by a device called the Orb. The project has registered millions of verified users and issued hundreds of millions of ID proofs, although it has faced scrutiny from regulatory bodies regarding its biometric data practices.
The listing of WLD on a MiCA-regulated platform like SwissBorg is significant, as it represents a cautious step forward for World amid ongoing regulatory concerns. While SwissBorg users can now access WLD without needing to switch platforms, the regulatory landscape surrounding World’s biometric approach remains a critical factor that could influence the token's future trading and acceptance.
