Swiss CPI Data and US Jobless Claims Highlight Economic Reports

The Swiss Consumer Price Index (CPI) is anticipated to rise to 1.0% from the previous 0.8%, although this change is not expected to influence the Swiss National Bank's (SNB) monetary policy, as core inflation remains within target. Additionally, final Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) readings for major Eurozone economies and the United Kingdom will be released, but these figures typically do not have a significant impact on market movements, as traders focus more on preliminary data.

In the United States, the Jobless Claims figures will be published, with initial claims projected at 200,000, an increase from 197,000. Continuing claims are expected to reach 1.725 million, compared to the prior 1.719 million. These statistics are unlikely to alter the Federal Reserve's stance, as the central bank is primarily focused on inflation, and recent job data indicates a stable labor market. The ISM Manufacturing PMI is forecasted to rise to 55.0 from 54.6, although its influence has diminished due to earlier releases of S&P Global PMIs, which indicated a significant acceleration in US economic activity, the highest level since 2021.

However, rising input costs, particularly in fuel and transportation due to increased oil prices, are expected to exert upward pressure on selling prices and inflation in the coming months. Central bank officials from the Bank of England, European Central Bank, and the Federal Reserve are scheduled to speak throughout the day, providing further insights into their monetary policy outlooks.
