Bitget CEO Addresses Security Incident and Withdrawal Recovery Timeline

Gracy Chen, the CEO of Bitget, announced during a live broadcast that the cryptocurrency exchange is working to restore withdrawal services following a recent security incident. While the platform's technical teams are actively investigating the issues, Chen indicated that there is currently no definitive timeline for when withdrawals will resume.

The attack on Bitget was characterized by a unique method that differed from previous incidents at other exchanges. Chen clarified that the hackers did not exploit key leakage, which is often considered the most severe type of breach. Instead, they managed to bypass certain systems to initiate unauthorized withdrawals. This distinction is crucial as it suggests that the platform's keys remain secure, mitigating the worst-case scenario.

Due to the complexity of the incident, which involved multiple cryptocurrencies and blockchain networks, Bitget is unable to reopen withdrawals until it can ensure the complete safety of the funds. Chen emphasized that the platform has implemented comprehensive loss prevention measures and is committed to developing a more secure plan before resuming services. She reassured users that the exchange will not face further attacks as it addresses the current security concerns.
