BitGo Launches Research Division Led by Former NYDIG Analyst

BitGo, a publicly traded cryptocurrency custodian, has established a new research division called BitGo Research, aimed at providing data-driven market analysis for institutional clients. The division was launched on September 24, 2026, and will be led by Greg Cipolaro, who previously served as the Global Head of Research at NYDIG, a firm that BitGo acquired earlier this year.

BitGo Research is set to produce ongoing market commentary and thematic reports focused on digital asset markets and emerging trends. The division's unique advantage lies in its ability to leverage data from BitGo's operations in custody, trading, financing, and settlement, allowing it to provide insights based on actual transaction flows rather than solely relying on public blockchain data or third-party sources. Cipolaro emphasized that this positioning offers a perspective that competitors may find challenging to replicate.

The appointment of Cipolaro follows BitGo's recent hiring of Alex Rozman as Chief Compliance Officer, signaling the company's commitment to enhancing its institutional services in a more regulated environment. BitGo, which trades under the ticker BTGO on the New York Stock Exchange, supports over 1,550 digital assets and secured approximately $104 billion in assets as of September 30, 2025, making it the largest independent custodian in the digital asset sector.

While BitGo is not the first cryptocurrency firm to launch an institutional research division, its approach is distinct. Unlike competitors such as Coinbase and Galaxy Digital, which rely on traditional research methods, BitGo's research will be informed by operational data from one of the largest custody and settlement platforms in the industry, providing a unique data advantage.
