Funds from Ledger Theft Converted to USDD Amid Tether Controls

Recent records from the Tron blockchain indicate that approximately 2 million USDT (Tether) has been converted into USDD (Decentralized USD) through its stability module. This conversion comes in the wake of significant thefts involving Ledger, a cryptocurrency hardware wallet provider, raising concerns about the security of digital assets.

In a related development, Bitquery, a blockchain analytics firm, has reported that Tether has frozen around $10 million associated with the broader theft cluster. This action reflects ongoing efforts by cryptocurrency platforms to mitigate the impact of hacks and protect users' funds.

The shift of stolen funds into USDD suggests a strategic move by the perpetrators to navigate around the controls imposed by Tether, which has been actively monitoring and freezing assets linked to illicit activities. This incident highlights the challenges faced by regulators and cryptocurrency exchanges in tracking and managing stolen digital currencies.
