Ledger reseller incident sparks discussion on hardware wallet "tamper-evident self-destruct" mechanism

PANews reported on October 10 that SlowMist founder Cos posted on X saying that after the Ledger reseller incident, a tamper-evident self-destruct mechanism for hardware wallets may become a must-have feature; otherwise, another mechanism would be needed to prove that the device in a user's hands is an official, genuine product. In response, dForce founder Mindao argued that if opening the device triggers self-destruction, it would be even harder to prove whether the device has been modified, whereas a removable design at least allows verification against the circuit diagram. He also noted that Ledger's official website already provides a hardware integrity check guide, but it is too hardcore for ordinary users.
