Raiffeisen Bank International Collaborates with Bitpanda for Cryptocurrency Trading in Europe

Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) has announced a partnership with Bitpanda to enhance its cryptocurrency offerings across 11 European markets. This collaboration aims to leverage Bitpanda Enterprise's digital asset infrastructure, enabling member banks within the RBI network to introduce cryptocurrency services to approximately 18 million customers. Each bank will tailor its services and launch timeline according to local market conditions and regulatory frameworks.

RBI's CEO, Michael Höllerer, emphasized the growing demand for cryptocurrency assets in the regions where the bank operates, which has prompted this strategic partnership. He reiterated RBI's commitment to addressing customer needs effectively as a customer-centric institution. Bitpanda has indicated that the rollout of these services will be gradual and contingent on local regulations, with more details to be disclosed as individual markets are prepared for launch.

This initiative builds on previous efforts, including a cryptocurrency integration that began in 2024 with Raiffeisenlandesbank Niederösterreich-Wien in Austria. Bitpanda, which is authorized under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), is actively engaging with banks and financial institutions regarding cryptocurrency brokerage services, although it has refrained from commenting on specific negotiations.
