Thai Police Arrest Chinese Fugitive in Bangkok for Money Laundering

Thai immigration police have apprehended a 37-year-old Chinese man in Bangkok, who is wanted by authorities in China for his alleged involvement in a transnational criminal network and money laundering activities. The arrest follows an investigation into a criminal operation that reportedly handled transactions exceeding 500 million yuan, equivalent to approximately 2.485 billion Thai baht.

The suspect is accused of facilitating cryptocurrency and foreign exchange transactions for the criminal organization through over 133 accounts. Additionally, he allegedly assisted members of the network in obtaining visas. Thai police reported that the fugitive had evaded capture by using falsified residence registration documents, changing vehicle license plates, and altering the appearance of his vehicles.

The suspect was ultimately located and arrested in a luxury mansion in Bangkok. Thai authorities are set to address his overstayed residence status in accordance with local laws and will coordinate his repatriation to China for further investigation.
