Xaman Wallet Growth Necessitates XRPL Node Capacity Fix
Xaman, a self-custodial wallet developed by XRPL Labs, has experienced significant growth, leading to challenges in the capacity of the XRP Ledger (XRPL) nodes. With approximately 735,000 active users reported, marking a 45.8% increase from the previous period, the wallet's expanding account base is straining the infrastructure of the XRPL, prompting a protocol-level response to address these issues.
The Xaman wallet allows users to create and manage XRPL accounts, execute transactions, and interact with non-fungible tokens (NFTs), while ensuring that private keys are stored on-device for full user custody. Each new account requires activation on the ledger, necessitating a base reserve of 1 XRP, which has contributed to the increased load on the network.
To mitigate the capacity constraints caused by Xaman's growth, a fix is being developed that targets the specific issues faced by some XRPL nodes. This solution is expected to be implemented outside the formal amendment process, which typically requires a supermajority consensus among validators for protocol changes. While an unrelated amendment, BatchV1_1, is currently under consideration, it does not address the immediate concerns related to account volume and node capacity.
