Mecka AI Approaches $500 Million Valuation in Sequoia Capital Funding Round

Mecka AI, a startup focused on collecting and analyzing human motion data for training humanoid robots, is nearing a new funding round led by Sequoia Capital that could value the company at approximately $500 million. This development follows a previous funding round in June 2026, where Mecka raised $60 million from Framework Ventures, with participation from Menlo Ventures, SV Angel, and Kindred Ventures.

Founded in 2024 by a team of four entrepreneurs, including Canadians Josh Gao and Mogen Cheng, Mecka AI aims to address the shortage of physical-world data essential for the advancement of general-purpose robots. The company employs an innovative approach by compensating individuals to record their daily activities using body sensors and smartphones, capturing valuable data for robotics development.

While the exact size of the upcoming funding round has not been disclosed and the terms remain subject to change, Mecka AI has indicated a strong growth trajectory, projecting an annual run rate of $100 million by the end of 2026. The startup's unique 'egocentric' data collection method has attracted interest from various robotics companies and AI laboratories, which rely on this data to enhance their models.
