Hyperliquid Establishes Headquarters in Singapore Amid Regulatory Clarifications

Hyperliquid Labs has confirmed that its headquarters is located in Singapore, although the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has clarified that it does not regulate the decentralized trading venue. The MAS, which serves as Singapore's central bank and financial regulator, has stated that Hyperliquid operates outside its jurisdiction due to its decentralized structure, despite the company's registration in the city-state.

The platform, which specializes in decentralized perpetual futures trading, allows users to engage in high-leverage trades across various assets without an expiry date. Hyperliquid has become one of the largest derivatives markets in the cryptocurrency sector by open interest, which measures the total value of outstanding contracts. However, on June 26, 2026, MAS added Hyperliquid to its Investor Alert List, indicating that the platform is unlicensed and not authorized to provide financial services in Singapore.

Hyperliquid has not contested its licensing status and emphasizes that it has never claimed authorization from MAS. The company operates on a permissionless infrastructure model, allowing users to maintain custody of their own funds and settle trades transparently on-chain. This structure means that there is no traditional broker for regulators to oversee, which is a key factor in MAS's regulatory stance.

While MAS's position does not impede Hyperliquid's operations, it highlights the risks associated with trading on unregulated platforms. Users of licensed exchanges benefit from consumer protection regulations, while those on decentralized platforms must rely on the inherent design of the protocol and their own judgment. As of now, Hyperliquid continues to function normally within Singapore, with both the company and MAS publicly acknowledging its regulatory status.
