Centrifuge’s deSPXA Token Accepted as Collateral on Hyperdrive
Centrifuge's deSPXA token has been integrated into Hyperdrive, allowing holders to use it as collateral to borrow USDC. This development enables eligible non-US users to deposit their tokenized exposure to the S&P 500 and access liquidity on Base, an Ethereum layer-2 network developed by Coinbase.
The deSPXA token represents exposure to the Janus Henderson Anemoy S&P 500 Index Fund, identified by the ticker SPXA. As of early October 2026, Hyperdrive is promoting borrowing rates below 1% APR for loans backed by deSPXA. The platform employs a redemption-based pricing model tied to the net asset value of the underlying fund, aiming to mitigate liquidation risks associated with traditional decentralized finance (DeFi) financing.
Since its launch on Base around March 30, 2026, deSPXA has also been available for lending on Morpho and trading on Aerodrome, a decentralized exchange. Despite a modest total value locked of approximately $15.9K in the dedicated Hyperdrive vault as of late September 2026, Centrifuge's strategic partnership with Coinbase positions it as a significant player in the tokenization space. The recent lender incentive of 50K USDC over six months is intended to stimulate market activity and assess demand for this new collateral option.
