Paradex Executes Record $16 Million ETH Options Trade, Outperforming Deribit
Paradex, a decentralized derivatives exchange operating on Starknet, has successfully facilitated a record ETH options trade valued at $15.76 million. The trade, which settled with a total premium of $45,220, represents approximately 0.29% of its notional value. This execution cost was reportedly lower than what traders would incur on Deribit, a leading centralized crypto options platform.
The record trade was made possible by Paradex's recent integration of Paradigm's request-for-quote (RFQ) liquidity network on September 15, 2026. This innovative RFQ system allows traders to request prices from multiple market makers simultaneously, enhancing competition and reducing slippage for large trades. Following the RFQ launch, Paradex saw its daily trading volumes rise to between $14.5 million and $17.6 million, with open interest increasing 2.6 times to reach $202 million.
Paradex distinguishes itself by offering zero fees for retail traders and employing ZK-based encryption for trade privacy. The platform has also introduced European-style ETH options with cash settlement via time-weighted average price, which mitigates manipulation risks during settlement. By leveraging Paradigm's established liquidity network, Paradex aims to attract institutional traders to its decentralized infrastructure, demonstrating that large positions can be executed efficiently and cost-effectively in the decentralized finance (DeFi) space.
