Tencent Cloud Launches Yuanbao Search API for Developers
Tencent Cloud has officially launched Yuanbao Search, a new search service available to developers, which supports API, MCP, and Skill access. This service boasts an extensive index of hundreds of billions of entries and handles an average daily call volume in the hundreds of millions. Yuanbao Search has already been integrated into over 50 internal applications, including WorkBuddy, ima, and Tencent Video. The technology behind Yuanbao Search is derived from Sogou Search and is designed to connect with 157 authoritative sources across various sectors such as finance, healthcare, and law.
The Yuanbao Search service went live on July 1, 2025, and is part of a competitive landscape in the cloud search market in China. Other major players have also launched their search APIs this year, including Alibaba Cloud, which introduced its independent Internet Search API on March 20, 2025, and Volcano Engine, which upgraded its service to Doubao Search in June 2025. Additionally, DeepSeek launched its Search and Fetch API on October 17, 2026.
Pricing for Yuanbao Search is tiered, with the Express version costing 14 yuan per thousand calls, the Standard version at 20 yuan, and the Premium version priced at 26 yuan. Each version includes a monthly free quota of 2,000 calls, although the Express version is limited to public web sources. In comparison, DeepSeek's Search API is priced at 5 yuan per thousand requests, while Alibaba Cloud's OpenSearch Lite is available for 12 yuan, with its Pro version recently reduced to 18 yuan.
