Yuga Labs Executive: Payment Processor Vulnerability Affected Over 23,000 NFTs, White-Hat Operation Recovered $5.7 Million in Assets

PANews reported on September 25 that Quit, Vice President of Blockchain at Yuga Labs, posted that at 9:00 a.m. ET today, someone exploited a Payment Processor V2 vulnerability to steal 10 Meebits, 50 Otherdeeds, 10 WoW, and 235 Desperate Apewives. After learning of the incident 12 hours later and discovering that a large number of NFTs were also affected by the same vulnerability, he worked with the LimitBreak team to urgently pause Payment Processor V3, which had a similar vulnerability, and used a white-hat operation to protect the related assets on V2 and ApeChain that could not be paused. In the end, a total of 23,155 NFTs worth more than $5.7 million were recovered. In addition, the team found that the vulnerability could also be exploited in reverse to steal WETH, with a total of 660 WETH at risk, but they were unable to recover it in time. The related NFTs have now all been safely transferred, and holders will be able to retrieve their assets after revoking the vulnerable approvals.
