Ondo Finance Faces Leadership Crisis Following Founder’s Death

Ondo Finance, a real-world asset tokenization platform based in New York, is reportedly facing a leadership crisis following the death of its founder and CEO, Nathan Allman, on May 25, 2026. Sources indicate that potential buyers have been approached regarding the sale of the company, although it remains unclear who is orchestrating these efforts. Allman, who passed away at the age of 32 without a will, left behind uncertainty regarding the ownership of his controlling shares and a significant amount of ONDO tokens.

In early August, a lawsuit was filed by Allman's estate against the acting CEO, Ian De Bode, alleging that he illegally seized control and funds of the company. This legal battle has intensified the struggle for corporate control, with the probate process awarding Allman's estate to his parents, Kathleen and Lawrence Allman. Despite the ongoing litigation, De Bode continues to serve as CEO, managing daily operations but is restricted from making major changes until the dispute is resolved.

An Ondo spokesperson has publicly denied the claims of a potential sale, asserting that no one within the company is pursuing buyers or engaging in sale negotiations. Ondo Finance, founded in 2021 by former Goldman Sachs executives, specializes in tokenized U.S. Treasury bonds and stocks, boasting a product scale that exceeds $3.8 billion. The ongoing legal issues may complicate any future plans for the company amidst the uncertainty surrounding its leadership.
