Tangem Co-founder: Ledger Security Incident Reaffirms the Security Engineering Principle That "Complexity Expands the Attack Surface"

PANews, October 10 – Tangem co-founder Andrey Lazutkin posted on X that the recent Ledger security incident once again reaffirms the security engineering principle that "complexity expands the attack surface." He noted that every additional component, software layer, and user interaction—such as screens, buttons, batteries, and firmware—introduces new potential points of failure and vulnerabilities, increasing the risks that need to be identified and mitigated. Lazutkin used this to defend the minimalist card-based design adopted by Tangem—a solution built solely around a secure chip and antenna—and said the incident reinforced his judgment that this design philosophy is correct.
