Visa Survey Reveals Growing Interest in Stablecoins Among Asia-Pacific Consumers

A recent survey conducted by Visa indicates a significant interest in stablecoins among consumers in the Asia-Pacific region. The study, part of Visa's Consumer 360 research, found that 46% of respondents are likely to adopt stablecoins within the next five years. However, the survey also highlighted a concerning misunderstanding of stablecoins, with 41% of participants believing that these digital currencies always increase in value.

The survey, which took place between June and July 2026 and included 14,250 participants aged 18 to 65 across 14 markets, revealed that while awareness of stablecoins is high—66% of respondents reported knowing what they are—only 6% demonstrated a correct understanding of how stablecoins function. Among those aware of stablecoins but not using them, 38% cited fears of fraud or scams as a barrier to adoption.

Interest in stablecoins varies by market, with Hong Kong leading in awareness at 84%, followed by India at 80% and Thailand at 77%. The intent to use stablecoins is particularly strong in Vietnam and India, where 67% of respondents expressed plans to adopt them in the future. Additionally, 49% of participants see potential for stablecoins in facilitating cross-border transfers within the next five years.
