BlackRock ETF Clients Invest $22.38 Million in Bitcoin Amid Market Fluctuations
On October 9, 2026, clients of BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) purchased $22.38 million worth of Bitcoin, marking a continuation of the fund's inconsistent but steady demand. This inflow comes shortly after a significant outflow of $207.7 million on October 7, highlighting the volatility in investor sentiment surrounding the fund.
The iShares Bitcoin Trust, which is the largest spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) in the United States by assets under management, has seen total inflows surpassing $65 billion since its launch. The fund is unique in that it holds actual Bitcoin rather than futures contracts, providing investors with direct exposure to the cryptocurrency market. Custody of the Bitcoin held by IBIT is managed by Coinbase Prime, the institutional division of the U.S.-based cryptocurrency exchange.
Earlier in October, IBIT experienced a net inflow of $195.6 million within the first week, indicating fluctuating investor interest. The recent investment comes as Bitcoin's price has been fluctuating between $78,700 and $85,000. In July 2026, BlackRock reduced the minimum threshold for in-kind conversions of Bitcoin to IBIT shares from $25 million to $1 million, facilitating over $5 billion in such transactions, which allows investors to exchange Bitcoin directly for ETF shares.
