Top Ten Wafer Foundries Achieve Record Revenue in Q2 2026

TrendForce's recent analysis reveals that the total revenue of the world's top ten wafer foundries reached approximately $53.49 billion in the second quarter of 2026, marking an 11.5% increase from the previous quarter. This surge in revenue is attributed to sustained demand for advanced semiconductor processes, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) applications. Additionally, the early stocking of consumer supply chains for electronics such as televisions, personal computers, and laptops has further strained the capacity of some mature manufacturing processes.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) remains the dominant player in the industry, reporting revenues close to $40.2 billion for the quarter, a 12.1% increase from the prior quarter, and holding a market share of 72.5%. The company's robust performance is driven by high demand for AI server GPUs and XPUs, which have kept its 5/4 nm and 3 nm production lines fully utilized. TSMC also benefited from initial orders for the new iPhone, with its 2 nm technology contributing to revenue for the first time.

Samsung Foundry secured the second position with revenues of $3.26 billion, reflecting a modest quarter-on-quarter growth of 1.8% and a market share of 5.9%. Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) followed closely in third place, exceeding $3 billion in revenue, a significant 20% increase from the previous quarter, and capturing a market share of 5.4%. United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) and GlobalFoundries ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, with revenues of nearly $2.18 billion and approximately $1.79 billion, both showing positive growth compared to the previous quarter. Other notable players include Hua Hong Group, Tower, World Advanced, Jinghe Integrated, and Powerchip, rounding out the top ten with revenues ranging from $432 million to $460 million.
