World launched an Identity Verification System for Banks and Zoom, With Deepfake Protection

      • World has introduced a World ID toolset for banks and financial organizations.
      • The technology enables identity verification for Zoom video call participants and protection against deepfakes.
      • Project partners include Bain Capital, VanEck Funds, and other companies.

World, co-founded by Sam Altman, has introduced the World ID for Banking and Finance toolset for identity verification and protection against AI-powered fraud. The solution is aimed at banks, financial institutions, and enterprise clients.

The product was announced by World co-founder Alex Blania at the Money20/20 conference in Las Vegas. The system combines several technologies to verify user identities, secure financial transactions, and enable interactions with AI agents.

The solution includes three core components:

      • World ID App — a digital wallet for storing and presenting cryptographic proofs of identity
      • World ID for Zoom — a tool for verifying video conference participants to protect against deepfakes and identity spoofing
      • World ID for Agents — a technology that allows users to delegate verified permissions to AI agents for interacting with third-party services.

Early project partners include Bain Capital, OpenExchange, Outtake, Pantera Capital, and VanEck Funds.

The companies are exploring how the technology can be applied in financial operations and corporate processes. However, World has not yet disclosed the names of the banks that are directly using the new product.

How does identity verification in Zoom work?

Alongside the launch of its enterprise solution, World announced the public release of World ID for Zoom following a limited beta test that began in April 2026.

The technology allows video conference participants to confirm that there is a real person on the other end, not an AI-generated digital double.

For verification, the system compares three images of the user’s face — one captured during the initial biometric enrollment using an Orb device, one taken via smartphone, and one shown during a video call. If the check is successful, a Verified Human badge appears next to the participant’s name.

Meeting hosts can require identity verification before joining or request it directly during the call.

As Fortune reports, financial firms are also considering placing Orb devices in offices to enroll employees.

World said its technology is designed to reduce fraud risks amid the spread of deepfakes and automated AI systems.

According to The Block, more than 18 million people have already received Proof of Human verification. The company has not yet disclosed the price of the enterprise solution.
