Postbank to Introduce Multi-Asset Investment Features in Mobile App by Early 2027

Postbank, Bulgaria's fourth-largest bank by assets, has announced plans to enhance its mobile banking app by allowing customers to invest in cryptocurrencies, stocks, and gold. The new features are expected to be rolled out by early 2027, enabling users to engage in multi-asset investing through a partnership with an unnamed international investment platform.

The planned investment options will include a variety of assets such as stocks, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), cryptocurrencies, and commodities, including gold. Postbank aims to cater to small-sum and fractional investors, allowing users to purchase portions of expensive assets without needing to buy full shares. However, details regarding specific assets, fees, and custody arrangements for customer holdings have yet to be disclosed.

Postbank's initiative follows a similar announcement by First Investment Bank (Fibank), which revealed its own plans to offer crypto investments through its My Fibank app, also targeting a launch in early 2027. Unlike Postbank, Fibank has partnered with the Austrian investment platform Bitpanda, highlighting a competitive landscape for investment services among Bulgarian banks as they adapt to evolving regulatory conditions in the European Union.
