Starknet, a prominent blockchain network, is contemplating a shift to a Layer 1 architecture to enhance its security against potential quantum computing threats by the year 2027. Eli Ben-Sasson, CEO of StarkWare, emphasized that establishing an independent chain would allow Starknet to implement security upgrades autonomously, without relying on the Ethereum network.
This strategic move aims to address growing concerns regarding the vulnerabilities of existing blockchain systems in the face of advancing quantum technologies. By transitioning to a Layer 1 solution, Starknet seeks to bolster its defenses and maintain its competitive edge in the rapidly evolving cryptocurrency landscape.
