U.S. September PPI Data Release Expected to Influence Federal Reserve Interest Rate Decisions

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics is set to release the Producer Price Index (PPI) data for September at 20:30 Beijing time. Market analysts anticipate a month-on-month increase of 0.5% for the overall PPI, while the core PPI, which excludes food and energy prices, is expected to rise by 0.3%.

The outcome of this data release is crucial as it may impact the Federal Reserve's interest rate hike expectations. Should the PPI figures exceed market forecasts, it could lead to increased speculation regarding further interest rate increases, potentially exerting downward pressure on U.S. stocks, cryptocurrencies, and other risk assets. Conversely, if the PPI falls short of expectations, it may alleviate tightening expectations and support the performance of these risk assets.

Recent Consumer Price Index (CPI) data has already indicated resilience in inflation, making the upcoming PPI release significant for assessing the ongoing inflationary trends in the U.S. economy.
