Crypto Market Speculation Shifts to Traditional Assets: RWA Perpetual Contracts Open Interest Rises to $9 Billion

PANews, October 15 - According to Bloomberg, data shows that over the past year, total open interest in perpetual contracts on major trading platforms fell from $81 billion to about $67 billion, while open interest in contracts linked to real-world assets (RWA) rose from nearly zero to $9 billion, accounting for 14% of the total. This indicates that leveraged trading enthusiasm in the crypto market has not yet recovered to previous levels, and related trading infrastructure is gradually expanding to traditional assets such as stocks and commodities.

During the same period, Bitcoin perpetual contract open interest decreased by about $8 billion, Ethereum by about $5 billion, and other tokens combined by about $10 billion, with the growth in traditional asset contracts only partially offsetting these declines.
