Algorand Foundation Experiences Leadership Changes with Recent Resignations
Marc Vanlerberghe, the Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer of the Algorand Foundation, resigned on October 14, 2026. Vanlerberghe joined the foundation in March 2024 as Chief Marketing Officer and was promoted to his current role, serving for approximately two and a half years. His departure follows the recent exit of Bruno Martins, the foundation's Chief Technology Officer, who left around October 9, 2026.
The Algorand Foundation has seen significant leadership changes this year, including the resignation of former CEO Staci Warden in August 2026. William Herkelrath succeeded her on August 31, with the official announcement made on September 9. Under Herkelrath's leadership, the foundation is reportedly re-evaluating its projects and partnerships with a focus on enhancing institutional adoption and ensuring financial sustainability.
In a related development, the foundation disclosed a reduction in its workforce by approximately 25% during the first quarter of 2026, indicating a strategic shift in its operational approach. These changes come as the foundation seeks to navigate the evolving landscape of blockchain technology and its applications.
