People's Bank of China Sets Yuan Central Rate at 6.7298 Against US Dollar

The People's Bank of China (PBOC) has established the central exchange rate for the Chinese yuan at 6.7298 against the US dollar, exceeding market expectations which estimated the rate at 6.6981. This marks the strongest reference rate for the yuan since February 2, 2023.

The PBOC permits the yuan to fluctuate within a range of plus or minus 2% around this central rate, allowing for some flexibility in the currency's value. This mechanism is part of China's broader strategy to manage its currency in response to market conditions and economic indicators.
