Revolut Allegedly Leaks Personal Information of High-Net-Worth Users

ZachXBT, an on-chain detective, has reported that Revolut, a financial technology company based in the United Kingdom, allegedly leaked personal identifiable information (PII) of some high-net-worth users. The incident reportedly occurred when Revolut mistakenly responded to a forged request for customer information that appeared to originate from a legitimate government agency, complete with an official email domain and valid domain authentication.

The leaked data may include sensitive information such as users' names, birth dates, occupations, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, and copies of identification documents like passports and driver's licenses. Additionally, it encompasses identity verification selfies, account statements, International Bank Account Numbers (IBANs), withdrawal records, and complete transaction histories, including records of Bitcoin transactions. Revolut has assured users that no biometric facial telemetry data was compromised during this incident.

Notifications regarding the security breach were sent to several affected users, with Revolut emphasizing the importance of verifying suspicious requests through their in-app customer service. While the scale of the leak appears to be limited, it has raised concerns primarily among high-net-worth individuals who may be more vulnerable to such security threats.
